Davies’ first episode wasn’t Rose in 2005.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT With the upcoming 60th anniversary of Doctor Who, Russell T. Davies will be returning for what is actually his third stint as a writer. Audiences will know Davies for rebooting the British sci-fi classic in 2005, introducing the Ninth Doctor and Rose Tyler to the BBC.
Davies will now return for his second time as Showrunner from November 2023, but audiences may not be aware that Davies had written for Doctor Who pre-2005. In 1989, Jon Pertwee starred in the stage play The Ultimate Adventure from March until April of that year and was then replaced by Colin Baker after Pertwee fell ill.
