The Ontario College of Family Physicians is asking the province to help improve working conditions for family doctors. The college says around 79,000 people

The Ontario College of Family Physicians is asking the province to help improve working conditions for family doctors.

“The number of people graduating from medical school choosing family medicine as their choice of medical practice has gone down,” said Dr. Carlye Jensen, family physician and president of the Uxbridge Health Centre, in an interview with Durham Radio News. “The number coming in is not going to replace the number retiring.”The college argues doctors have been spending up to 19 hours per week on administrative work.

It has called on the province to eliminate employer-mandated sick notes for short absences. “I think that’s a misuse of our health care system,” said Jensen.
