Bethesda is giving Fallout 76 a premium monthly subscription with a bunch of new features locked behind it. This is not a joke.
– Receive 1,650 Atoms per month to use in the Atomic Shop– Unique icons and emotes, available only to membersSeeing all this written out does not really do anything to change my initial “lmao WHAT” reaction to this news. In short, what it looks like this subscription pays for is…a feature that everyone has wanted infrom the start, the ability to play alone or privately with friends, which is now locked behind this $100 a year paywall.
They are acknowledging that this is a thing everyone has been asking for since launch! And they’re paywalling it off! This is genuinely incredible! Like what!just came out from Obsidian which is being described as “The.” And you can bet there’s not going to be a premium subscription tier for that. This just seems wild to me. Almost no games dare to try to do monthly subscription fees anymore, and if they do it’s for like, entire access to the game , or in say,This $13 a month will be ridiculed by non-players and casual fans, and I have a feeling it may downright offend the hardcoreplayers who will clearly view this as a crass attempt to over-monetize the game because apparently the microtransaction store isn’t doing well enough.
