- President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that fugitive Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi had died in a raid by U.S. special forces in northwest Syria, in what he called a major blow to the jihadist group.
U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat, criticized Trump not notifying U.S. Congressional leadership prior to the raid. She also said in a statement: “Iraq’s Armed Forces and intelligence services will continue to work with Iraq’s partners in the @coalition to relentlessly pursue Daesh terrorists and to defeat their ideology.”“Not a big deal, You just killed your creature” “The killing of Baghdadi will not end Daesh and its ideology ... which was created and flourished with the help of regional petrodollars.”
