Hurricane Idalia made landfall in Florida as an"extremely dangerous" Category 3 storm after millions of residents evacuated or hunkered down in homes and shelters to await the arrival of a life-threatening storm surge. Evacuations were ordered in 28 of Florida's 67 counties as of late Tuesday. Most of the state and parts of Georgia and South Carolina are under storm warnings or advisories.
The utility with the most outages was Duke Energy with over 40,000 customers without power, followed by Florida Power & Light Company at more than 16,000.
