The term “foreclosure filing” includes any part of the process: default notices, scheduled auctions or actual bank repossessions. Despite the increase in filings, foreclosure completions – when a lender actually repossesses the property – decreased in 28 states. Lenders repossessed 3,397 properties in February, which is down 14% from the month before and 11% from a year ago.
The states that saw the biggest decrease in repossession include Georgia , New York , North Carolina , New Jersey and Maryland .South Carolina saw the biggest increase , followed by Missouri , Pennsylvania , Texas and Indiana .were North Dakota , Montana , South Dakota , West Virginia and Kansas .
