BREAKING: Several casualties feared in an explosion on Istanbul's Istiklal Street, as firefighters, police and medical teams rush to the scene
At least one person dead and several wounded in an explosion on Istanbul’s historic Istiklal Street.
Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya said on Twitter that there were casualties from the blast that occurred around 4:20 pm local time on Sunday. "Our police, health, fire and AFAD teams were dispatched to the scene. The developments will be shared with the public," he tweeted.Footage showed ambulances, fire trucks and police at the scene in Beyoglu district. Police teams took security measures in the area where the explosion happened. This is a developing story and will be updated later
Security forces and emergency services are deployed at Istanbul's Istiklal following a loud explosion.
