The 6-foot-7, 36-year-old Budinger will partner with Miles Evans as the No. 2 U.S. team behind countrymen Miles Partain and Andy Benesh. Former NBA forward Chase Budinger will make his Olympics debut playing for Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics this summer – but not in basketball.
Budinger, at 6-foot-7 and 36 years old, grew up starring in both basketball and volleyball at La Costa Canyon High School in Encinitas, California. He was named the boys volleyball National High School Player of the Year by Volleyball Magazine in 2005 and a McDonald’s All-American in basketball in 2006.three seasons with the Wildcats
Budinger was drafted by the Detroit Pistons in the second round of the 2009 NBA Draft, but was later traded to the Houston Rockets, where he played the first three years of his seven-year NBA career. He also played three seasons for the Minnesota Timberwolves from 2012-15 and parts of one season with the Indiana Pacers and Phoenix Suns, finishing his career with an average of 7.9 points and three rebounds in 407 games, including 50 starts.
