Taylor Swift's former label says they have 'reached a licensing agreement' allowing her to sing her old hits at awards show later this month
In this file photo taken on August 26, 2019 US singer-songwriter Taylor Swift arrives for the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Taylor Swift's former label on November 15, 2019 dubbed as"false" the superstar's accusations that it was preventing her from performing her songs on TV or releasing a Netflix documentary.
Big Machine, which is based in Nashville, then clarified that it had "informed" the production company of its licensing approval. She claimed they had told her she was "not allowed to perform my old songs on television because they claim that would be re-recording my music before I'm allowed to next year."
"It should be noted that recording artists do not need label approval for live performances on television or any other live media," Big Machine said on Monday.
