Robert Costello, a former legal adviser to ex-Trump fixer Michael Cohen, blasted his onetime client’s credibility on Thursday and said that he “stirred up” the Manhattan grand jury hearing evidence…
In 2016, Daniels was paid $130,000 by Cohen to keep quiet about an alleged 2006 affair with Trump.Costello believes Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is now “reconsidering” charging the 76-year-old former president.“Michael Cohen is quite simply a witness that you cannot believe. He is a convicted perjurer,” Costello said.
The Trump-supporting lawyer said he has hundreds of emails that potentially show Cohen lying, but Bragg has only allowed jurors to see six of them, declaring the rest to be hearsay.Getty Images “If the grand jury gets to see the other 315 emails, he probably lied to us another 50 to 100 times … He’d say one thing in one email, and the opposite thing in another email … You have to see all the evidence. And I was pushing very hard for that. I told the grand jury, ‘You can’t believe Michael Cohen,’” Costello told Catsimatidis. He added, “Michael Cohen is not the horse you want to try to ride to the finish line. He just doesn’t have any credibility at all.
“The US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District, after I presented the exact same material that I presented to the Manhattan DAs office … passed [on indicting Trump]. They never did anything else with Michael Cohen again … I hope that the Manhattan DAs office would look at that experience and say, ‘We should follow in their shoes and not go forward with a frivolous case like this.’ In addition, the Federal Election Commission also passed on” the hush-money payment case.
