The hit BBC show is set to return to our screens
Looking for another dark murder mystery set in a claustrophobic military setting? Well, you’re in luck, as the BBC have announced thatStarring Suranne Jones as the no-bullshit DCI Amy Silva, the first series of's 2021 Emmy-award winning show was a hit with audiences, as more than 10 million people tuned in for the first episode.
Viewers watched as Silva – who, of course, is a TV detective also fighting her own personal demons – was tasked with unveiling the murderer on board a nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine called Vigil . As the series went on, it was revealed to be part of a much bigger cover-up that involved the Royal Navy, MI5 and Russian spies as it became a deeper-reaching political maelstrom.
According to the official synopsis of the six-parter: “Following multiple unexplained fatalities at a Scottish military facility, Silva and Longacre are tasked with uncovering the cause. Entering the hostile and closed ranks of the air force, the pair must face the deadly warfare of tomorrow as they fight for their own future.
Garai hinted at the new twists and turns of this outing of the programme and said: “It’s a huge privilege to be welcomed in as a part ofseries two and to be playing such a layered, complex character. I can only hope to do justice to the shows continued fascinating, challenging and thrilling storytelling.”
