Hurricane Dorian is now expected to remain a Category 4 when it reaches Florida early Monday

Photo: Eric Rojas/AFP/Getty Images Hurricane Dorian, currently blowing through the Atlantic at top speeds of 85 mph, hit Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands with relatively minimal damage on Wednesday. The storm is expected to strengthen by the time it reaches Florida later Sunday or early Monday, picking up enough speed to become a powerful Category 4 hurricane, the National Hurricane Center said Thursday.
How did it affect Puerto Rico? Dorian’s outer bands began dumping rain on Puerto Rico Wednesday morning. Though there were fears that flooding and heavy winds could over-stress infrastructure still recovering from Hurricane Maria, the island appears to have been spared from major damage. On Tuesday, President Trump, who has implied that it’s Puerto Rico’s fault that hurricanes keep coming, approved a national emergency.
