Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi were two of the biggest horror movie stars of the Old Hollywood era, and they actually starred in many films together.

Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff were two of the biggest horror stars of the '30s and '40s, and they starred in many great films together. Lugosi and Karloff made names for themselves playing a host of monsters during the Universal Classic Monsters cycle, and their iconic turns as Dracula and Frankenstein solidified the characters in popular culture forever.

6 Black Friday 1940's Black Friday was one of Universal's best non-monster horror movies of the '40s, but the disproportionate roles between Karloff and Lugosi hurt it in the end. In the movie, a scientist implanted a piece of a gangster's brain into his friend which caused the latter to begin acting like the former murderer. Carrying the film alongside his co-star Stanley Ridges, Karloff starred as the dangerous Dr. Sovac.

3 The Body Snatcher After departing Universal Pictures in the early 1940s, Lugosi and Karloff were signed to make a few films for RKO Radio Pictures, including 1945's The Body Snatcher. Adapted from the Robert Louis Stevenson story of the same name, the film followed a desperate cab driver, who became a grave robber and murderer to supply cadavers for a greedy doctor.
