At a time of crisis, many MEPs feel the European Parliament has pressed the mute button
where MEPs had to print, fill in, scan and email back their ballots to pass a series of coronavirus emergency measures.

On the other hand, the essence of parliamentary work — building coalitions and voting in committee meetings — is either non-existent or done remotely and under a lot of technical constraints. In normal times, “it’s not that three people are sitting at the table and arguing," Sippel said."There are so many things to look upon: it's your own position, it's the position of your group. For all the groups, there are always some slight differences between personal position and the group's position. You have to look into all the details of the content. You have to think about your own political strategy.
