The mayor said he will press the president on the urgent need for federal funding to help “have a 9/11 response to the terror of violence that’s playing out on American cities throughout this entire country.”that there is a “sea of violence from many rivers, and we have a dam each river.” “We removed 6,000 guns off the streets of New York last year, close to 400 this year since I’ve been in office,” he told the radio show.“But they keep coming because we’re not turning off the tap. We’re not turning off the faucet and the federal government can play that role,” he said.

“I think the President understands it, he gets it,” Adams insisted. “I’m looking forward to having this actually carried out.”Veteran Democratic strategist Hank Sheinkopfthat “it’s always hard to get the federal government to do much” when it comes to guns.
