“These emotional impacts or psychological impact are causing the stress of the entire community. And it’s just not possible for a civil society to just keep going on like this,” Middleton told the crowd. As for Smith, the 49-year-old Lantzville resident remained in an induced coma Thursday at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
