The right two lanes of eastbound Interstate 580 were closed Monday afternoon, backing up rush-hour traffic in the East Bay.

Google estimated that the drive from downtown San Francisco to eastern Livermore would take around 70 minutes. Interstate 580 is the only major east-west thoroughfare in the Livermore area.in an auto crash on I-580 in nearly the same area. The two incidents do not appear to be connected.
