Emerald Trail moving forward; plan is for 2030 completion date
Although nearly 40% of the massive Emerald Trail project is either in the process of being designed or has seen construction begin, building the long anticipated trail is expected to take a little longer than originally thought.
The first segment, the connection of Brooklyn to the S-line, is expected to be completed by the end of the year, while Hogan Street, segment two, is in the design phase with construction expected to start next year. For example, she says many residents have voiced concerns over keeping the new areas as beautiful as they start and wanting to implement green initiatives, so Groundwork has developed an environmental stewardship program where residents are trained in environmental practices and conduct monthly clean-up projects. The program will begin next year.
