Elon Musk has dismantled Twitter on the altar of his own vanity 🔵 Every time someone says they’re a free speech ‘absolutist’, you can mark in your diary when they’ll find their limit ✒️ IanDunt for ipaperviews
It is now clear beyond any reasonable doubt, however, that he is a buffoon, an imbecile, a moral derelict and a clear and present danger to global free speech. He is single-handedly dismantling one of the greatest information resources in human history on the altar of his own vanity.
Soon afterwards, hatred and fascism were expanded to include anyone who challenged the regime, such as the dissident Charter 77 group in Czechoslovakia or the Muslims imprisoned in 1981 for provoking national and religious hatred because they urged parents to raise their children in their religion.. It’s not hard to imagine how that free speech exemption would be used against them, given half the chance.
The fact he has undermined his own financial position to preside over a website which hates him is small compensation for the impact he is having on everyone else. But true commitment to free speech requires confidence and humility. The confidence to face the strongest argument against your position and the humility to recognise that you might be wrong.
