With the closing of its latest exhibit, “In Pursuit of Happiness: Immigrants in Our Communities,” the Elmhurst History Museum is holding a special event this weekend to celebrate how immigrants contribute to the colorful fabric of Chicago area communities.

The multi-age martial artists from the Illinois Shaolin Kung Fu Academy will perform at the Elmhurst History Museum's Cultural Celebration on May 13.

With the closing of its latest exhibit, “In Pursuit of Happiness: Immigrants in Our Communities,” the Elmhurst History Museum is holding a special event this weekend to celebrate the many ways immigrants contribute to the colorful fabric of Chicago area communities. The public is invited to join in the Cultural Crossroads Celebration on Saturday for an array of exciting performances, presentations, and interactions with special guests, according to a news release.This free all-ages event takes place in the museum and outdoors under a tent from 1 to 5 p.m., the release said. The Elmhurst History Museum is located at 120 E. Park Ave. in downtown Elmhurst. Free parking is available on site and at nearby parking garages.

• Students from York High School’s International Club will be on hand throughout the day to share presentations and short performances about different cultures. • Free craft activities for kids will be available while supplies last including make-your-own guitars and maracas, and paper crafts such as origami cranes, butterflies, and flowers. • Spin the World Trivia Wheel to test your global knowledge.The Cultural Crossroads Celebration is being presented as the final event related to the Elmhurst History Museum’s exhibit, “In Pursuit of Happiness: Immigrants in Our Communities,” which closes on May 14, the release said.
