Warren is one of many Democrats vying for the 2020 presidential nomination.

SELMA, Ala. — Sen. Elizabeth Warren is wrapping up a three-state Southern swing with appearances in Alabama. The Democratic presidential candidate is expected to discuss her affordable housing plan as well as other proposals she says are designed to ease both racial and economic inequality.

Warren is to hold an organizing event in Birmingham on Tuesday night after stopping in Selma, a center of the civil rights movement where the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. led a historic 1965 march to draw attention to disenfranchisement of African-Americans. The Massachusetts Democrat began her southern visit in Tennessee before stopping in Mississippi, where she held a nationally televised CNN town hall.

During that town hall, Warren endorsed the elimination of the electoral college and a congressional plan to study potential reparations to the African-American community.
