Elgin residents want open space and parks, a food truck plaza and a mix of housing types built on the three parcels of North Grove Avenue land owned by the city, according to plans presented to the Elgin City Council.
This is an overview of how the first of three parcels of land along North Grove Avenue might be developed under concepts presented to the Elgin City Council by consulting firm Lamar Johnson Collaborative. The site, south of the Gail Borden Public Library, could include a midrise housing development, food truck plaza, commercial space for a restaurant and natural areas along the Fox River.

A top priority for those who participated in the community surveys and meetings was that all three sites have open space, green space and natural areas, Roth said. “What are the next steps? We’re going to keep working together,” Roth said. “We are still poring over your comments in the study and making sure we understand the intent of those comments and how they were incorporated into the plan.”
