A new poll released Wednesday found that the presidential race remains tight in the battleground state of Wisconsin. Former president Donald Trump garnered 51 percent support among registered voters, while President Biden had 49 percent, according to the survey from Marquette University Law School. The numbers were the same among likely voters. The result was virtually unchanged from Marquette’s survey conducted in late January, in which each candidate had 49 percent of the support.
Trump got 41 percent among registered voters and Biden received 40 percent, while independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. had 13 percent. Green Party candidate Jill Stein got 3 percent and independent candidate Cornel West received 2 percent. Trump won Wisconsin in 2016 but narrowly lost it to Biden four years later. The state also will see Sen. Tammy Baldwin run for reelection in November against Republican challenger Eric Hovde, a contest Marquette’s polling showed was close.
