A 2022 survey of Philadelphia parents found only 22 percent said district schools were excellent or good, compared to 62 percent for private schools.
Schools of choice have higher accountability standards, too. Indeed, if parents are not satisfied with a private school, they can withdraw their child, and the schools lose funding, which incentivizes these institutions to value their students and fight to retain them.
Pennsylvania has the chance to embrace Lifeline Scholarships and make a tangible difference in the lives of countless kids. It’s time our elected representatives did just that.

Germany's biggest Jewish educational and cultural complex since the Holocaust to open in BerlinGermany’s biggest Jewish educational and cultural complex since the Holocaust is set to open in Berlin, five years after the groundbreaking. The Pears Jewish Campus by the city’s Chabad community will officially open on Sunday. The community’s 550 kindergarten, elementary and high school students who are currently spread in different buildings across the city will all move in when the new school year begins in late August. There will also be a movie theater and music studio, a library, a kosher deli and an indoor basketball court and gym. It can be turned into a lecture hall for up to 600 people or a reception venue for weddings and bar mitzvahs.
