The baby died in hospital March 11 and on Thursday, an autopsy determined the girl\u0027s cause of death was blunt force trauma.

The baby girl’s death is the 10th homicide in 2023 and is the second infant death police are investigating this year. On Feb. 5, police began investigating after a baby was brought to the Stollery Children’s Hospital by emergency medical services. That infant was in medical distress and was admitted to the hospital’s intensive care unit and died on Feb. 8. An autopsy was completed, however, the cause and manner of death are pending further tests and the death is being treated as suspicious.
