The men's basketball team defeated Purdue to advance to the next round of the March Madness tournament.

It’s hard to imagine the Run Baby Run Arena at Saint Peter’s University has ever heard a noise like the one the crowd made in the final seconds of Friday’s game.

In the first half, nearly every score or recovered turnover by Saint Peter’s drew a cry from the crowd, which took up over half the arena’s bleacher seats. Clarence Rupert seemed to draw an “MVP” chant with every play made. Coach Shaheen Holloway got a cheer when he appeared on screen for an interview in the first half.

Both before and after the game, students kept in perspective what their team has accomplished in its historic tournament run.The effects have already been apparent for the last week, students reported.
