DWP providing over 36,200 people with diabetes up to £156 each week in financial help

More than 36,200 working age adults across Scotland, England and Wales are currently receiving up to £627.60 every four weeks to help with the additional costs of daily living or mobility needs as a result of diabetes. Approximately 276,000 people living in Scotland have either Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, yet only 3,899 are claiming additional financial support through Personal Independence Payment .

Of the overall total, 322,387 people living in Scotland are now receiving financial support of between £24.45 and £156.90 each week and as the benefit is paid every four weeks, this amounts to between £97.80 and £627.60 every payment period.
