A DUP councillor has quit his elected role after being charged with attempted sexual communication with children

The 60-year-old from Killyleagh was later charged and the case was brought to Downpatrick Magistrates Court last month.He faces two charges of attempted sexual communication with a child.His resignation only emerged on Monday when the Electoral Office confirmed a new councillor had been co-opted to the local authority.
Ms Moore said she has been working in the community alongside DUP Strangford MP Jim Shannon for 12 years. "I look forward to working with the sitting councillors in my party, whom I know well and have worked with closely over a number of years, as we serve our constituents throughout our council area."
