This October, Southtown residents might be seeing a lot more orange than just their pumpkins and candy corn.
SAN ANTONIO — If you're planning to visit Southtown this October, beware: You'll be seeing plenty of pumpkin-colored traffic barriers and cones limiting traffic through some key neighborhood corridors due to road construction.
The city says once construction begins on Oct. 2 at the two intersections – populated by popular bars and restaurants on one side, and the Hemisfair and La Villita districts on the other – it'll be weeks before they fully reopen. The first closure affects both the north and south sides of South Alamo at Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard. Crews will work on the south side first, closing South Alamo off to most drivers between Cesar E. Chavez and Presa. You'll be asked to detour down St. Mary's . When work shifts to the intersection's north side, South Alamo will be closed from Cesar E. Chavez to Nueva Street; Hemisfair visitors would be better off parking off Cesar E. Chavez west of South Alamo, or in downtown proper.
