Swatara Township police accused Jordon A. Murlin, 27, of driving under the influence when he flipped his car Saturday afternoon, killing his front-seat passenger.

Murlin, 27, with homicide by DUI after the fatal crash Feb. 5, 2022.A 27-year-old man has been charged with first-degree felony homicide by DUI after a Saturday afternoon crash in Swatara Township that killed a 12-year-old boy who was a passenger in his vehicle.3 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, recklessly endangering another person and driving vehicle at safe speed. Murlin remained in jail Sunday after being unable to post a $750,000 bail.
When police arrived, Murlin and the three boys had exited the vehicle. The boy riding in the front passenger seat sustained severe head trauma and was later pronounced dead at a hospital, according to court records. Murlin reportedly told police he had been drinking that day, and had smoked marijuana the night prior. He has two prior DUI convictions from 2013 and 2018, according to court records.“Obviously too much,” Murlin replied, according to court records. He consented to a blood draw to test for levels of alcohol, police said.
