Police charged a driver with DUI and involuntary manslaughter after he struck and killed a woman while she was crossing a street in Cumberland County, according to court documents filed Monday., had the right-of-way and was using the crosswalk at 12:36 a.m. Aug. 29 when the driver, turning left, hit her on Hanover Street in downtown Carlisle, just two blocks from her home. The crash injured her head and lower right leg. She died from her injuries at a hospital two weeks later on Sept. 12.
Police requested additional testing of Gibbs blood, which revealed he had marijuana in his system, according to court records.
