An elderly driver injured at least five people when he accidentally accelerated into the market in Castro Valley on Redwood Road, Lt. Ray Kelly, a public information officer with the Alameda Sheriff's Department, told SFGATE.The California Highway Patrol's incident pageThe Alameda County Fire Department posted on Twitter at 4:33 p.m. that firefighters were at the scene of the market, and assessing the store for hazards and treating injured people.
ACFD is currently on scene of a vehicle inside Trader Joes Market on Redwood Road in Castro Valley. Crews are currently assessing the building for hazards and injured persons. This is a developing situation, and more information will be released later.
