The I Promise School, an Akron Public School, opened in 2018 to help youth in the Akron area who are under performing in reading, math and other academic areas. Theprovided $2 million in initial funding to open the school, which offers year-round resources, access to opportunities, skill development, and wraparound support for more than 1,300 Akron Public School students. I Promise Students who are offered college scholarships if they do their part, according to the school website.
