Toei Animation recently revealed an exciting promotional video for their new NFT project titled DenDekaDen. The project has been co-produced along with creative technology studio Strata and was first launched around a year ago. The new promotional video includes an original theme song by popular music artist Amatsuki and showcases several of the key characters in the project.
The project blends Japanese tradition and mythology with blockchain technology to craft a weird yet insanely creative story that revolves around seven souls who pass through the gates of a shrine in Tokyo to become gods. These souls, which exist as accounts on X gain power as they gain followers. Toei Animation Studio Launches New NFT Project Toei's Wackiest Project to Date Oddly Proves the Studio's Versatility Safe to say, upon first glance of the story, the project does seem incredibly weird and out of character for Toie Animation, which as one of the oldest animation studios is regarded as fairly traditional. However, Toei's Digital Products Director describes DenDekaDen as an attempt to develop a new kind of story, one that traditional animation alone cannot tell.
Unconventional as it may be, the project appears to be well-received in Japan. The promotional video, with its stunning animation, also proves that Toei Animation is capable of much more in terms of animation quality and diversity in terms of style, which perhaps only a fresh project such as DenDekaDen can help bring out.
