Since the virus isn't changing very much, he said a person who gets infected in February or March and recovers should be protected if there's a second wave in September or October.
National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci attends the daily coronavirus briefing in the Brady Press Briefing Room at the White House on Thursday in Washington, D.C. Fauci isn't 100% certain, but is confident that people who recover from a new coronavirus cannot become reinfected, at least until September or October.
"So, it's never 100 percent, but I'd be willing to bet anything that people who recover are really protected against reinfection," Fauci said.
