Dozens of residents were evacuated from their homes Tuesday after an early morning fire started in a North Side apartment complex.
San Antonio firefighters were called just before 3 a.m. Tuesday to The Place at Oak Hills apartment complex, 2370 NW Military Drive.

Officials said they believe the fire started in that second-story apartment but do not know what caused it. The family living there escaped safely, SAFD spokesman Woody Woodward said. About 40 residents were evacuated, and most were able to return to their homes. Ten people were displaced due to the fire, Woodward said.
