Premier Doug Ford’s government is defending an Austrian company’s reported 95-year lease agreement to run a spa at Ontario Place.
“Unlike other waterfront destinations, we are not selling the land; the land will continue to be in ownership of the people of the province. This is a lease agreement,” she said under questioning from NDP Leader Marit Stiles.with the provincial government.
“The government is entering into a long-term lease, but … we cannot ignore the fact that they will be providing $500 million worth of capital investment on the site,” she said, noting“contributing to the annual maintenance of the site to make sure that it is clean, safe and beautiful for families.”
