Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum made history after he became the franchise's youngest-ever player to reach 10,000 points.
JON JOHNSON Having his team ahead by 57 points at halftime after putting 74 points up on the scoreboard was a new experience for Dothan High basketball coach Jeremy Bynum.
Greenville was the recipient of the beat down as Dothan opened the season at home with a resounding 98-29 victory on Thursday night.“Just make it more about us,” Bynum said. “Come out and see what kind of maturity we have as a team. Can we still play the right way? We didn’t press in the second half, so I wanted to see if we could set up in the halfcourt and get stops.
“That’s a big positive for us because I didn’t think we shot the ball very good from the free throw line really good last year, and that’s something we really stressed,” Bynum said. “We want them to shoot a high percentage from the free throw line and we also want to make more than the opponents take, and I think we may have gotten to that point tonight.”
Senior guard Mehkai Menefee led the Wolves in scoring with 17 points, while senior Kobe Small followed with 14 and junior Bryson Berry with 13. Three Dothan players each scored 10 points – Jayden Tayler, Diggy Coleman and Kamryn Finn. All 11 players on the Wolves’ roster scored.
