As usual, Trump appears to be working mostly for himself.
, but he is a gifted opportunist — never one to pass up a chance to make a shameless buck. That’s how he’s operated his whole life, and so it is little surprise that he’s approached this midterm cycle the same way. Throughout the campaign, Trump has brought in tons of money through his Make America Great Again Inc. PAC, ostensibly as a way to help Republicans take back Capitol Hill.
But, as aTrump’s political action committee has so far reported spending just $8.5 million on behalf of GOP Senate hopefuls — small potatoes compared with the roughly $205 million his punching bag, Senate Minority Leadernoted, that could leave Trump with somewhere in the neighborhood of $80 million to use after the midterms to use as he sees fit — all of it raised, in theory, off Republican candidates, some of whom are in tight races.
