Dolly Parton says 'not yet' to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

On Monday morning, Parton issued a statement via social media that said she didn’t think she had done anything to belong on the list, but teased that she might change that in the future.“Dolly here! Even though I am extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated for the Rock & roll Hall of Fame, I don’t feel that I have earned that right. I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out.
The Hall has long opened its awards to artists outside rock, inducting performers who arguably influenced rock while working in pop, hip-hop, R&B and other genres. In materials that accompanied this year’s nominee announcement, the Hall praised Parton as a trailblazer who achieved pop crossover success and who repeatedly established her business acumen in a male-dominated field.
