Dog stuck in Vestavia Hills sewer pipe rescued: ‘It’s been heartbreaking,’ owner says
A rescue effort Wednesday night for a beloved family dog stuck in a sewer pipe in Vestavia Hills ended with the pet being reunited with its family.
The Wilson family arrived home from out of town Wednesday afternoon and realized Tiger Lily had gotten out of the yard.Usually, however, Tiger Lily, comes back home. This time, however, she didn’t. But once in the wooded area, she realized Tiger Lily had fallen into the storm drain because she heard an echo when Tiger Lily barked.It appeared, Wilson said earlier Wednesday night, that the dog tried to go through the tunnel instead of climbing back out. She only made it halfway.Wilson said she believed that Tiger Lily has been in the storm drain since last night and may be injured. She didn’t believe that she was stuck space-wise.
“lt’s been heartbreaking,’’ Wilson said. “She’s crying. You can tell she wants to come out, but she can’t.”
