Jo Martin's Fugitive Doctor and Sacha Dhawan's Master will have their stories continued in new DoctorWho audio dramas.
Big Finish has confirmed the adventures of Jo Martin's Fugitive Doctor and Sacha Dhawan's Master will continue in two ongoing Doctor Who audio-drama series. Current Doctor Who showrunner Chris Chibnall's tenure is coming to an end, and nobody can fault him for his ambition - he's upended decades of continuity by rewriting the Doctor's origin story, revealing she is not a Time Lord at all.
This means there has been literally a billion years' worth of unseen Doctor Who adventures, with Chibnall introducing one forgotten incarnation of the Doctor - Jo Martin's so-called"Fugitive Doctor." There are still many mysteries about the Fugitive Doctor, some of which will be explained in an upcoming comic book miniseries by Titan Comics. Others will hopefully be resolved in the upcoming Doctor Who Centenary Special, with Martin confirmed to be returning.
These audio-dramas have the potential to shine a light upon the history of the entire Time Lord race. Martin's Doctor was the incarnation who traveled to the planet Time, working on behalf of a secretive group known as the Division to establish the laws of time. Depending on where this series is set in her personal continuity, the stories could even be set in the Dark Times before the laws of time were established.
There is, however, one unfortunate aspect to this news. There's been intense speculation Russel T. Davies will establish a wider Doctor Who universe, even launching spinoffs. Some had hoped Jo Martin's Fugitive Doctor, in particular, could return in her own series. That now seems unlikely, because Doctor Who only passes concepts on to Big Finish when the TV series is done with them.
