The company previously decided toin France on Nov. 23 in favor of a launch on Disney+. The bold move was seen as an attempt to put pressure on upcoming negotiations to amend the windowing rules which are expected to kick off in January.
A meeting was held under the guidance of the National Film Board a couple weeks ago to discuss changes to the guidelines. It appears to have given Disney hope for a significant change. The banner said again that it believes “the chronology is anti-consumer and puts all studios at increased risk for piracy, which is why the majority of the stakeholders agree that it needs to be completely revised.”
