He denied any interest in a sexual relationship with his co-worker, and told the hearing he held her hand during the test drive because she appeared nervous and upset.
The woman did not report the incident since it was unrelated to their work. She did tell her supervisor about the assault during a conversation about the car, which triggered an investigation by city officials.Casey, who heard the case over three days, determined the dismissal was not excessive and that little of the man’s claims could be believed.Article content
More broadly, Casey said the city has a duty to maintain a safe workplace for its employees and to protect the public and its own reputation, as outlined in its labour policy.
