The Director of Baldwin 911's contract has not been renewed, with him being placed on administrative leave.
The Baldwin County E-911 Board of Directors met in a public meeting Wednesday November 1, 2023 at the 911 Center in Robertsdale to discuss the expired employment contract of Director Joby Smith. Mr. Smith served for a term of four years during a period of growth and expansion of the physical facility and staff of Baldwin County E-911.
Upon the completion of the executive session, the Board reconvened its public meeting and a majority of the Board members voted not to renew Mr. Smith's employment contract. Mr. Smith will remain on paid administrative leave through December 1, 2023 at which time he will fully separate from employment with Baldwin County E-911.
The Board next appointed Kathryn Byrd to serve as the Interim Director of Baldwin County E-911. Mrs. Byrd is a 21-vear employee of Baldwin County E-911and most recently has served as the Dispatch Operations Manager overseeing all emergency call dispatch operations.
