The horror director who never met a scare he didn't like now has a movie theater in Dallas named after him thanks to the Alamo Drafthouse movie theater chain.
Halloween director John Carpenter and serial killer Michael Myers helped rechristen the Alamo Drafthouse movie theater in Las Colinas as the John Carpenter Cinema on Thursday.Halloween, They Live, Big Trouble in Little China, is a creative force for horror. He's directed films and cinematic TV shows that have become cult favorites. He's composed the music for almost all of his movies and even some that didn't have him in the director's chair.
Now, the Alamo Drafthouse theater has made its John Carpenter Freeway location a shrine to the horror movie director John Carpenter. The theater held a commemoration of the new John Carpenter Cinema with the man himself , complete with an appropriate orange ribbon-cutting in honor of hisfranchise — which he cut with a razor-sharp kitchen knife provided by Michael Myers, the William-Shatner-masked slasher who started terrorizing the babysitters of Haddonfield, Illinois, in 1978.
