Gov. Ron DeSantis , beginning his likely 2024 presidential campaign rollout this week with a new book, would throttle federal bureaucrats, balance the budget, push for congressional term limits, and put more power in the presidency in a bid to control Washington and stall unchecked woke politics.
In his book, DeSantis suggests that his actions in Florida targeting liberal state and corporate policies is a good model for the nation to follow, and he suggested starting with limiting the authority of unelected bureaucrats and challenging corporate woke policies.“Corporations politicize the economy when they leverage their economic power to take positions on issues that do not directly affect their businesses.
“Under our law, imposing woke ideology as a condition of employment constitutes a hostile work environment, and employees have a right to be free from such indoctrination. Of course, regardless of how noxious it may be, businesses can freely advocate for race essentialism or any other fad they choose, but the freedom to speak does not include the right to indoctrinate. The latter is more in line with cultural Maoism than with American freedom,” he warned in the excerpt.
According to other reports, DeSantis has praise in the book for Trump and pushed some Trump policies. For example, he would follow through with a Trump-era initiative to drain the swamp and stop policymaking by unelected federal workers.
