Medina Police Chief Edward Kinney says the shooting occurred just after 6 p.m. in the parking lot of the Medina County Sheriff's Office.
MEDINA, Ohio — A woman reportedly armed with a firearm and a knife was shot and killed Wednesday evening by a deputy outside the Medina County Sheriff’s Office.
A news release from Medina Police Chief Edward Kinney says the shooting occurred just after 6 p.m. A person used an external intercom at the sheriff’s office to report that the armed suspect was in the parking lot and creating a disturbance, Kinney says. When deputies went to the front of the building, they encountered the woman, Kinney said. Deputies ordered the woman to drop the firearm and knife but she refused, Kinney said. One deputy opened fire and the woman died from her wounds.
The suspect’s identity has not been released. Kinney says his department and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation will investigate the shooting. If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
