The shooting happened Tuesday in the 8000 block of Westport Circle on Tuesday.

On Friday, the sheriff’s office identified the deputies who shot their guns as 36-year-old Sgt. Amanda Sears, 35-year-old Dep. Antonia Powell, and 32-year-old Kevin Duke. The California Department of Justice is not investigating, according to the sheriff’s office, because the weapon Jones threatened deputies with was considered to be a deadly weapon. The state department performs its own investigation of police shootings when the person shot is determined to be unarmed or carrying a weapon that cannot cause deadly harm.
