Denver has not played major college football since 1960. The Pioneers have never made the NCAA men's basketball tournament, and lost in the first round of their only women's basketball tournament appearance. Boston College , 2–0, on Saturday evening in St. Paul, Minn., to win the men's hockey's national title—the school's milestone 10th crown, the most in the history of the sport.
The win gave the Pioneers their second title in the last three seasons. Denver's collection of championships includes 1958, '60, '61, '68, '69, 2004, '05, '17, '22 and '24. Behind the Pioneers and Wolverines , the most successful men's college hockey programs on the national stage are North Dakota , Wisconsin , the Eagles , Boston University and Minnesota .
